Describe your background in community and/or social action causes.

Co-founder of an Indonesian environmental movement GloW Alliance; Media and Public Outreach consultant for Greenpeace Southeast Asia since 2003 til early 2008; wrote script, shot, directed and produced documentary films (i.e. “Hijau Daunku Lestari Hidupmu” on the importance of plants to mankind; “Of Fowls and Men” on the bird culture of Indonesia in connection with the avian influenza program of FAO, etc). Currently working on personal projects with my photographer husband Kemal Jufri on a make-shift primary school provided for street children and other children belonging to nearby marginalized communities under a toll bridge in Jakarta. Operated by twin teachers who used their trust fund over the last 15 years to run the school. Another on-going photo book project with the working title “Esperanza” on the children of East Timor.
What current issues are of interest?
forest issues including conservation, REDD, indigenous land rights; alternative energy; global climate change; disaster management; children’s rights issues specifically relating to education, mental and emotional well-being; clean air and water campaign; smoking ban.
