Describe your background in community and/or social action causes.

I was born in Sumbawa Besar, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, in 1980. I’m graduated from Department of Communication at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta. My first documentary “Beauty is Pain” was produced in 2005, after participated in the documentary workshop for the beginner. Several months later, my second documentary “Joki Kecil (Little Jockey)” won the Eagle Award 2005, the best documentary for television in Metro TV, and also awarded the favorite viewer choice. In November 2006, Joki Kecil won the prize of best direction in the Asian Competition Section of Tehran 11th International Short Film Festival, Iran. Since then, I’m carry on to make documentary film and it has been screened at various national/ international film festivals, and local government events. Currently i am working as researcher in KUNCI Cultural Studies Center in Yogyakarta, in addition of being a director and documentary researcher in Benang Merah Production.
